Aqua Dining

A couple of days ago, my boyfriend and I were taking out friends from the UK who were only in Sydney for a few days. We wanted somewhere with a view of course, as one does with overseas guests, and eventually decided on Aqua Dining. I had been here before, but not for a few years and had been meaning to go back for ages.

The views did not disappoint, despite the weather being a bit iffy (once it got dark, we couldn’t tell it was raining). The service was also excellent, though they were not very busy the night we went (I suspect most people were still recovering from Australia Day the day before).

The food was good too. My boyfriend and I shared the Burnt semolina tagliolini with calamari, green pea and bottarga as an entree, I had the Lamb with sheep curd and broccoli for my main and the Almond budino with cherry sorbet and alkermes for dessert. Originally, we had planned to share the dessert too, but I think we confused the waiter so he brought us one each – this turned out to be a good thing, as it was too yummy to share.

In summary, this is a great place to take overseas or interstate guests, or anyone who has forgotten how lucky they are to live in Sydney! I do think the food is a bit overpriced for what you get, but I guess you are paying for the views (and boy, are they worth it). Note – their weekend lunch is a much better deal at $75 for 3 courses ( as opposed to $89 for dinner), plus it is BYO on weekends (Saturday Lunch, Sunday Lunch and Sunday Dinner). There is a $15 corkage fee, but it is still probably cheaper than ordering their wine and it gives you the flexibility to take your favourite wine that you have been saving for a special occasion (that you never get round to drinking).
