Intercontinental Sydney Supperclub

Intercontinental Sydney Supperclub

Once upon a time you had to go to Melbourne if you wanted a decent rooftop bar. Not anymore. And I can safely say there is not a rooftop bar in Melbourne with views like this. Or anywhere in the world for that matter.

Until about a year ago, if you wanted to visit Supper Club on level 31 of The Intercontinental Sydney, you would need to stay in a Club Room here as it used to open only as the Club Lounge. Then they started adding Cocktail Classes (my review is coming shortly) and progressive dinners (where you start the night downstairs for entrée & main courses and end the night in Supper Club for dessert). And now, the general public can also enjoy a few drinks, snacks, and of course those views every Wednesday to Saturday from 9pm until late.

Those views, as pictured, include the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Botanic Gardens and harbour. If you feel brave enough, there is an outdoor terrace with unfettered views and a few seats. Or you can enjoy the more comfortable lounge indoors.

In terms of the menu, they specialise in cocktails and champagne, though the wine, whiskey and sake list are rather extensive too. Although, the food is more of the snacks to share variety, it is worth holding off on dinner. We enjoyed the Manchego and nduja croquettes with smoked tuna and rocket aioli, Parmesan and thyme fries with truffle aioli, and the divine dessert platter.

The service was equal to the food, drinks and views. As you would expect in a Five-star hotel, it was unobtrusive, discreet and efficient.

Please note, bookings are essential and Supper Club is available 7 nights a week for exclusive use.

The only downside….it is only available to Club Room hotel guests on New Year’s Eve!
