Movida Sydney

When I heard Movida was opening a restaurant in Sydney, in October 2012, I was very excited but also very nervous. Nervous that it would not be open in time for my birthday that is. Luckily it opened a few days before and that is where I celebrated with friends. At this stage, I had not been to Movida in Melbourne, but I really hoped it lived up to the hype. Not only did it exceed my high expectations, but it even got me to eat cauliflower – something I usually detest! But their Beef Cheek in Pedro Ximenez with Cauliflower Puree is outstanding! My friends and I shared a few other dishes (2 tapas each, plus 4 racion, patatas bravas, an assorted meat platter and 3 desserts to share), but this was my stand out dish. I have had it since at Movida Aqui (see our reviewhere) and it still tastes amazing. I must mention Jane, who helped me with my booking. She was able to book me a table for 8, after initially saying there wasn’t any left, when I explained it was my birthday. She also didn’t flinch when I had to reduce it to a table for 4 after 4 friends dropped out at the last minute. We spent around $70 each including sangria.
