Omeros on the Beach

Last night, I dined at Omeros on the Beach, for a family birthday celebration. appropriate really, as it is a family run restaurant. It is the second time I have dined here, and both times the service and food were outstanding. You know you are in good hands when they have won ‘The Best Fine Dining Restaurant’ at the St. George Leader Business Awards, in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015! Not to mention ‘Best Business of the Year’ in 2015.

We skipped entrees, as were looking forward to their desserts and didn’t have room for 3 courses. First of all, my partner and I shared the Fish & Chips (which may sound boring, but the Parmesan Polenta Chips puts an interesting slant on this traditional dish) and the Eye Fillet Steak with Mash, Shitake Mushroom Jus and Sauteed Seasonal Vegetables. Pictured is my mother-in-law’s main: Cone Bay Barramundi with Rosemary Mash, Chargrilled Vegetables and a Light Millawa Blue Cheese Sauce. For dessert, we shared Mr. Presley (chocolate tart served with peanut butter crumble, salted caramel sauce, banana foam and candied bacon). All of which were delicious.

The icing on the cake, for me though, was the service. It was a quiet Tuesday evening this time, so the restaurant was not busy (due to the waterside views, lunch is often their busiest time), but they could have taken advantage of this and taken it easy. Instead they made us feel special. For example, they gave a bottle of Pinot Gris to the birthday guest as we were leaving! You cannot buy that kind of customer service.
