Q Dining

A few weeks ago, my partner and I had tickets to see Billy Connolly at Sydney Opera House. We wanted to eat somewhere nice beforehand, which wasn’t too expensive, was close to the theatre and the food would arrive fairly quickly. We could not have chosen a better restaurant under these circumstances than Q Dining (previously known as Quadrant) in the Pullman Grand. In fact, we did not know how lucky we were when we booked, as we were running really late and arrived about an hour before the show started. With this in mind, we just ordered a main course and glass of wine. We both choose the Mulloway, which was delicious, with the Paris Mash to share. Without exaggeration, this is the best mashed potato you will ever eat! Luckily the food arrived really quickly. Not surprising in hindsight. I imagine most of their restaurant guests are either staying in house or are going to the theatre afterwards. With this in mind, they do have a specific pre-theatre menu, which has 1/2/3 courses for $41/61/75. The only minor disappointment was that we could not see The Harbour Bridge. I wrongly assumed that we would be able to, as their ECQ Bar upstairs has amazing views. Tip: ask for the table in the corner, as I suspect they would be able to see it. Next time, I will request this table and also ensure we have longer, as the Chocolate mousse with salted caramel, popcorn ice cream and chocolate cookie crumbs sounds amazing!
