Sake, The Rocks – Round 2

A few weeks ago, I dined at Sake Restaurant in The Rocks and wrote a less than flattering review of the service. It is unfortunate that this was our first visit, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and dine there again with my boyfriend. They are an award-winning and hatted restaurant, so I thought maybe we just caught them on a bad night last time. Luckily, I was spot on. The service was impeccable this time; nothing was too much trouble, water glasses were topped up frequently and the staff were very knowledgeable about the dishes. I can safely say they went above and beyond this time.

And the food was, of course, amazing. We decided to try new dishes this time and chose: The White Soy Snapper Sashimi, Alaskan King Crab Maki Rolls, Miso Cod Lettuce Cups with “Glacier 51″ Toothfish, Lamb Chop Robata with Wasabi Chimichurri (not very spicy), Eggplant with Miso Paste (soooo good, and I normally don’t like eggplant), Popcorn Shrimp (one of their signature dishes, and rightly so) and the Premium Wagyu Angus Strip Steak which melts in the mouth. We were pretty full after all of this, but decided to share a dessert as the Chocolate Fondant (as pictured with a glass of delicious Japanese dessert plum wine) sounded so good. It might not be very Japanese, but it certainly did not disappoint.

I am not generally a gambler, but I would bet that my first visit was a one-off, rather than the second. I can’t wait to go back and find out!
