Quay West Sydney Review

Last year, myself, my partner and his family enjoyed a Vivid Cruise. This year, we decided to do something different for Vivid Sydney, so we all stayed one night at Quay West. It was perhaps the best decision we have ever made. For not much more than the cost of a cruise (admittedly, the valet parking pushed it up a bit), we enjoyed a spacious 2-bedroom apartment with stunning 180-degree views. Both bedrooms had a view of the Opera House, although the one from the Master was better as you can enjoy it from bed. The master bedroom also has a TV if you get sick of the view outside. I think the photo above says it all about the view from the living area! As well as a large lounge and dining area, the 2-bedroom apartment also features a laundry, security safe, sofabed in the lounge (large enough for 2 children or 1 adult), Foxtel, fully equipped kitchen, large ensuite with bath, and a separate bathroom. Some apartments have a balcony, although ours did not. As my partner’s sister has children, this was a blessing, as we were on the twelfth floor. We did, however, have windows which opened for some fresh air.

Although all of the rooms at Quay West are 1 or 2-bed apartments, they do have hotel-type facilities. Harringtons restaurant is downstairs (where my partner & I enjoyed New Year’s Eve last year), and we had the buffet breakfast this morning. Please note, if you book before midnight the night before, the buffet breakfast is only $22 for adults and $10 for children ($10 less than if you just turn up). It’s a really good deal; they have pastries, cakes, fresh fruit, fresh juices, cooked breakfast, pancakes and maple syrup, cheese, yoghurts and berry smoothies, as well as tea and coffee of course. They have a wide range of flavours of tea, but the coffee which is included in the buffet was very disappointing. However, for a few extra dollars, you can purchase flat whites, cappuccinos etc.

There is also a great indoor, heated pool on level 24 with a spa, sauna, small gym, and amazing views. There is also a large balcony here, which is where we enjoyed the New Year’s Eve fireworks.

In my opinion, there is not a better place to stay during Vivid Sydney, and if it’s available, I’d definitely book an apartment on the twelfth floor.
