Botte d'Oro Leichhardt

Last weekend my partner and I moved from Forest Lodge to Leichhardt. After a lovely Christmas and hectic few days unpacking, last night we decided to do as the Romans do and try a local Italian restaurant. The first one we came to was La Botte D’Oro and what a find! They have been open since 1977, are one of the longest running Italian restaurants in Leichhardt and are still ran by the same family. Quite a rarity in changing Leichhardt these days.

My partner had their signature dish, the John Dory Fillet, served on a bed of truffle risotto with rocket & balsamic glaze. Luckily, we had previously agreed to share as the truffle risotto was lovely. My dish, Chargrilled lamb cutlets served with mashed potato, was good too though and the mash was very creamy. Just how I like it. The garlic bread as an entree had filled us up, so we shared dessert, Tiramisu. Both of which were delicious.

The service was just as good as the food, and for the most part, authentically Italian. We are lucky to have this as our local restaurant, just 10 minutes walk from home, but it is definitely worth travelling to. And if you are not already convinced, they have All-you-can-eat-pizza for $20 ($13 for kids) on Mondays and Tuesdays.
