The Builder’s Arms Bistro

I wish I could say I dined at The Builder’s Arm’s Moon Under Water fine dining restaurant, but on this occasion I dined with friends at the Bistro. I wasn’t disappointed though. It is just like the famous gastropubs in London. The beer garden in particular reminds me of The Engineer in Primrose Hill (where I used to live in London). The main difference? This one is owned by Melbourne institution, Andrew McConnell (of Cutler & Co and Cumulus etc fame), along with Josh Murphy and Anthony Hammond. And if Andrew is involved, you know you are going to get quality food. Unfortunately, it was too cold to enjoy the beer garden on this winter’s evening, but the red wine went down a treat. For my main, I had the Minute steak with fried egg and shoestring fries (pictured). It was a little pink (I ordered Medium) but very tender and juicy. Would I go back? Of course. Would I prefer to try Moon Under Water? Definitely.
